Wires

A wire is a long and thin piece of conducting material used to carry current from the source to the user point. Wires may be insulated with different materials. Typically, wires are made of either copper or aluminum. Single strand wires are rigid and therefore, difficult to bend. Flexible wires are made of very thin stranded conductors bunched together. A wire can be single or multi stranded and the size is indicated in American Wire Gauge or AWG. Typically, PVC is used for insulating wires. For special applications, Teflon or similar materials are used. Wires of different AWG sizes are used for internal wiring of electrical panels and for electrical and electronic devices.
